Editor's Letter
There’s something so optimistic about the changing of seasons. How many times have you heard yourself saying, “This fall, I’m gonna —” and then made a promise you truly believe you’ll fulfill? For me, it’s a several-times-a-day occurrence. Zhuzh my wardrobe, read more, find time for fun.
In this issue, we’re exploring the ways this time of year can feel brand new. Even if you aren’t walking through the doors of a school and you definitely did not have three months off, any day can be the day you show up as a fresher version of yourself. Our senior fashion editor has identified the one item to buy to give all your outfits a new attitude; we’ve got a seasonal horoscope to see what the stars have in store, and our beauty team shares how they swap routines for cooler weather. For me, it’s all about hair. I got a gloss treatment to bring back my deep-brown color, and I plan to continue undoing a summer’s worth of sins with the Acidic Bonding Concentrate System by Redken, our sponsor.
Speaking of a refresh: Camila Mendes is making her movie-star debut as she “graduates” from the TV show that made her a household name. On the set of this cover shoot, which took place in a garden in London, she was confident and clear in the vision of herself she wanted to put forward. “I’m in my late 20s now. I’m starting to get more comfortable being in a position of power,” she says. And though I’ve got a decade on her, I have to say, same. Who needs New Year’s resolutions when you can just refresh a bit right now?

Fall’s Biggest Color Trend Is All of Them, Brighter
What comes after the pink-filled Barbiecore craze? Every other electric color in the rainbow. For Spring 2023, designers such as Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung, Naeem Khan, Tia Adeola, and more gravitated toward bright shocks of blue, purple, orange, and lime green. Celebrities are in on the Highlighter Fashion moment, too, like Keke Palmer who wore a neon green Christopher John Rogers suit to promote Nope. Want to try the joyful trend for yourself?
